As many of you know, the Boardwalk Subcommittee recently released its final report after several months of work. Please find here a recent assessment of the report by Ocean City 2050 that I hope you'll take a few minutes to read. Overall, we believe the committee made a meaningful contribution. The report identifies several important challenges facing the boardwalk and offers a thoughtful framework for moving the discussion forward. At the same time, there are areas where additional analysis and public discussion are warranted before any zoning changes are considered. In particular, it’s important that any future development proposals actually address the entertainment deficit identified by the committee, and that we fully understand the potential impact of residential development on the character of the boardwalk that residents and visitors value so highly. Our goal is not to revisit old debates, but to help ensure that the next steps are guided by data, transparency, and a clear understanding of what makes Ocean City unique.
