Thank you to everyone who joined us for last Friday’s OC2050 Community Meeting — and a special thank you to Council member Tony Polcini for taking the time to attend and share his perspective. It was a terrific turnout and a lively, constructive discussion about Ocean City’s future and the next steps for our Boardwalk and Master Plan.

THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT WE ARE ON THE RIGHT PATH
City Council has taken a smart, forward-looking approach by choosing to update the Master Plan and establishing a subcommittee to guide the process. This is the right way to shape Ocean City’s future — thoughtfully, collaboratively, and with input from residents, businesses, and the community.

LET’S KEEP MOVING FORWARD
But it’s important to stay vigilant. Despite Council’s clear decision, there continue to be efforts to revive a “rehabilitation area” vote — a step that would take us in the wrong direction and undermine the careful planning process now underway. We need to move forward, together, not backwards, fighting.

Together, by staying engaged and speaking up (see below!), we can help ensure that Ocean City’s future is guided by integrity, transparency, and the shared values that make our town so special.

AT THE OCT 9 COUNCIL MEETING, SOMETHING IMPORTANT HAPPENED…

Amid all the comments about Wonderland and the future of the Boardwalk, there was, if you listened carefully, more agreement than disagreement.  

The City Council announced the creation of a Boardwalk Subcommittee that will undertake a zoning study of the entire Boardwalk corridor. That study will then be provided, in a timely manner, to the Planning Board for consideration as part of the City’s Master Plan. I’m very proud to have been asked to join this committee as I feel the work is critical to our town—and the right step forward…
