Issues & Advocacy

Ocean City is currently confronting a number of issues that speak to the Island’s future. Along with the growing number of community groups (like Friends of OCNJ History & Culture, the Plaza Place Association, SaveWonderland, and the Concerned Citizens of Glen Cove), Ocean City 2050 will actively engage in these matters and provide updates as appropriate.

Current Issues:

  • Zoning & Housing Development – Advocating for responsible policies on housing development, including better regulation around density, setbacks, building envelope, and parking.

  • Boardwalk & Beachfront Planning – Encouraging a clear vision for Ocean City’s public spaces.

  • Glen Cove Marina Development – Addressing concerns over commercial marina approval in a small residential lagoon.

  • Affordability & Accessibility – Exploring ways to balance tourism with the needs of full-time and seasonal residents.

  • Government Transparency - Enhancing the rules and regulations around financial disclosures for elected officials.

  • Entrenchment - Advocating for the adoption of reasonable term limits for elected officials to prevent entrenchment
